Customer Access Information
Business hours for this office are Monday – Friday from 8:00AM to 4:30PM by appointment. Walk-in services are provided on a limited basis, as described below.

Walk-in hours for ALL inquiries are Fridays from 8:30AM to 12:00 noon.

Document submissions are accepted Monday – Thursday from 8:30AM to 12:00 noon. No other walk-in inquiries will be accepted during these hours.

Inquiries may also be submitted in writing by mail, email, or fax. Due to confidentiality concerns, asylum case status cannot be provided over the phone.

Transportation
DRIVING DIRECTIONS

From the North or South, take Interstate 93.

Get off at the State Street exit.

Head West on State Street.

Turn right onto Cambridge Street.

The JFK Federal Building is at the corner of Cambridge Street and Sudbury Street.

Service Area
The Newark Asylum Office serves the following states: Connecticut, Delaware, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New Jersey, Rhode Island, and Vermont as well as portions of New York and Pennsylvania.

The Boston Sub-Office will be the primary point of service for the following areas within the Newark Asylum Office’s service area: Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, and Rhode Island.

Asylum and Related Forms
Applications for asylum and related benefits are not filed at Asylum Offices. Follow the instructions on the application form you wish to file, and mail your completed application to the appropriate Service Center for initial processing.

Case Services
Inquiries about asylum applications pending with the Boston Asylum Sub-Office may be made in person on Fridays from 8:00AM to 12:00 noon or submitted in writing by mail, email, or fax. Due to confidentiality concerns, information regarding pending asylum applications cannot be provided over the phone.

All other case service needs, including change of address, can be directed to the USCIS Contact Center at 1-800-375-5283. The USCIS Contact Center provides a variety of services for both pending and completed cases.
